About
Acción Spring(t) is an International Conference on Action Art and Performance founded in 2017 at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid. It emerged from the need to create a specific, plural and inclusive framework within the university where artistic creation, research and teaching could come together through action.
During each edition, papers, performances, encounters and discussions transform the faculty into a place for experimentation and exchange. Artists, lecturers, researchers, students and professionals from different backgrounds and generations share the same context. Established trajectories and emerging practices are not placed in separate circuits: they coexist, enter into dialogue and learn from one another. This horizontality is one of Acción Spring(t)’s defining principles.
Mission
To create an open context in which to research, experiment with and share action art and contemporary performance practices. Acción Spring(t) connects artistic creation, research and teaching, providing a place to present papers and performances, share processes, test ideas and discover other ways of making and thinking.
Vision
To become an international reference platform for action art without losing its open, experimental and approachable character. We aim to build a network that connects diverse people and contexts, encourages new collaborations and preserves the memory of performance through a living and continuously expanding archive.
Values
Horizontality and listening. We promote relationships based on dialogue and mutual recognition, without establishing rigid hierarchies between theory and practice, academic knowledge and artistic experience.
Exchange between trajectories. We bring established practitioners and emerging artists together to encourage reciprocal learning, the transmission of experience and the creation of new opportunities.
Experimentation. We make room for risk, questions, ongoing processes and forms that are still under construction.
Plurality and care. We welcome different bodies, identities, languages, generations and ways of understanding performance, seeking to create a respectful and accessible environment.
Community and continuity. We want each edition to generate lasting connections through conversations, collaborations, support networks and new knowledge.
Taking part in Acción Spring(t) does not simply mean occupying a place in a programme. It means entering into conversation, opening a process to other perspectives and allowing a work or research project to discover new directions. It is a place where ideas become action and encounters can continue long after the final day.
